Meet our Supplier of the Month: Picture Perfick

01 / 07 / 18

Each month we like to get to know a supplier even better and bring you snippets you won't know about them from their page. This month, our supplier of the month is Picture Perfick. A family run Photo Booth company based in Swindon who cover the South West. Here's what Pauline from Picture Perfick had to say...

Who runs Picture Perfick and how did you start out in business?

I do, assisted by my husband Brian. My business began after my friend hired a photobooth for her birthday five years ago and had real problems finding one I saw a gap in the market and fully intended to look into finding a photobooth of my own. Never did. Until two years later I became very ill, faced a life threatening illness which made me take stock of my life. Although I was helping to run my husband’s construction company I also worked part time at the hospital, my illness meant I had to give that up. During my recovery time I spent hours researching photobooths and how I would go about running one. So Picture Perfick was born.

What is your greatest fear when you are working on a wedding?

That the booth or printer will stop working! I do have two booths and a backup plan but I still worry!

What is your greatest extravagance that helps you get through the day?

Perfume …. very expensive, wear it every day, no such thing as just for special days EVERY day is special and this perfume reminds me of that every time I get a waft of it.

What is the hardest thing a couple has ever asked you to do for their day?

The bride had chosen a large golden birdcage type seat with a black backdrop to enhance the gold, and she wanted people on the seat and around it. The seat was low and wide and we were working with a tight space. We purchased a smaller tripod for the booth and played around with the height and angle to ensure everyone would be in the photos. To add to the stress we had to do all of this on the day of the wedding as the bride only bought the seat the day before!

I had a few sleepless nights but results were amazing!

What is the best theme you have seen at a wedding?

Vegas themed wedding! The best man was Elvis, Owls delivered the rings to the groom and the reception was turned into a giant Vegas Casino. We provided Vegas style props and Vegas backdrop. It was a fabulous night enjoyed by all.

Where is your favourite setting for a wedding?

I have attended many lovely venues but the one that will always be my very favourite is Manor by the Lake in Cheltenham. It’s absolutely wonderful.

When was the last time you laughed out loud at a wedding? What happened?

I laugh at every single wedding I attend without fail. People love to dress up and have a laugh at the photobooth. The most recent was a bride who was posing with her new husband. She had chosen a bright pink fluffy boa and her husband was reluctantly agreeing to join her. She lassoed the boa around his neck and just dragged him his face was an absolute picture!

What is the most embarrassing thing you have seen at a wedding?

Bottoms!! People sometimes get caught up in all the fun and fantastic atmosphere at a wedding and inhibitions go out the window!

What is the one thing you can’t live without in your job?

Brian …..But don't tell him! He keeps me calm and we overcome any glitches quickly. He also does all the heavy lifting! We work so well as a team and are a bit of a double act. He’s my Perfick in Picture Perfick!

What question do you wish every couple would ask you when you are meeting with them for the first time?

Check that the booth will fit at your venue. We stipulate the dimensions beforehand but if we can’t do a site visit before to double check it can cause problems on the day trying to make it work if the space we’ve been allocated is too small.

Who do you draw inspiration from for your work?

A young lady in Norfolk that had her booths made by the same chap that makes mine. She started 18 months before me and had to work evenings in Tesco to fund her first booth. She now has 12 booths working flat out throughout the wedding season! She has a real get up and go attitude and faced many challenges but is hugely successful.

What moment are you most proud of in your profession?

That's a hard one there are so many I’m proud of. I’m proud of how Picture Perfick was born and continues to thrive. I’m proud I have a second booth and have employed staff …..I could go on lol!

What would people be surprised to learn about you and / or your work?

Hmmm how long have you got lol. I guess that I have appeared on TV a number of times with Hugh Fernley Whittingstall and Antique road trip. Always wanted to be in front of the camera ….ended up behind it and I love it!

We can totally vouch that Pauline is not only a wonderful person and a true professional, she is full of giggles and is one of the happiest people you will come across. Exactly what you want from someone running the evening entertainment on your big day.
