Each month we like to get to know a supplier even better and bring you snippets you won;t know about them from thier page. This month, our supplier of the month is Matt Fox Photography Here's what Matt had to say...

Who is Matt and how did you start out as a wedding photographer?

I’m Matt and I’m a photographer from Trowbridge with a focus on weddings. I first got into documenting weddings during my first year at the University for the Creative Arts in 2012 when asked to capture a friends, so I can thank them for taking me down this path as it’s certainly one I’m enjoying.

Whitewed-What is your greatest fear when you are working on a wedding?

Being attacked by wolves. I think like most photographers the fear of all my equipment suddenly breaking down would be it, although for that to happen would be some serious bad luck! as I have 2 or 3 backups of everything and I’ve not even had to use them yet.

What is the best theme you have seen at a wedding?

I don’t know about the best but my favourites are always the ones that have the couple's personality visible, with handmade centrepieces or decorations and things like that.

What is the hardest thing a couple has ever asked you to do for their day?

Asking for an entire wedding group photo after the guests have had a few drinks is never easy! I definitely recommend doing that shot if you want it earlier in the day.

When was the last time you laughed out loud at a wedding? What happened?

There has been plenty of laughing and some tears at most of the weddings I’ve captured, typically from the speeches! I had one wedding where a few of the waiters were actually undercover singers, only me and the bride knew, so when they burst into song halfway through the wedding breakfast the looks I photographed from the guests was a laugh.

What moment are you most proud of in your profession?

I’ve had times when handing over an album and bringing the couple to tears (happy ones!) when they see their photos, that’s always special. But having people trust me to capture their big day makes me proud.

Where is your favourite setting for a wedding?

I think my favourite is probably an Autumn rustic barn wedding, although every setting has its positives and negatives being outdoors in the not so harsh light of summer is usually my favourite setting to capture.

What is the one thing you can’t live without in your job-other than your cameras!

Probably the harness that holds the cameras then! Having two cameras on me at all times makes things so much easier and means I shouldn’t miss a shot having to change lenses.

What question do you wish every couple would ask you when you are meeting with them for the first time?

I actually don’t know, I try and go over everything included as well as talk about myself and how I ended doing this. And most importantly finding out about all your plans for your wedding day.

Where do you draw inspiration from for your work?

I think often unknowingly from everywhere. I always try and be different though, doing things others don’t and incorporating new techniques.

What would people be surprised to learn about you and/or your work?

I think often that I’ve only been doing weddings full time since 2016, taking my degree in documentary photography and applying that to someones special day.
