Have you got bridesmaid gifts on your mind? Trying to work out the why’s, what’s and where’s and would love some help from us and a few of our Whitewed approved gift creators to help you to decipher just what to buy for your bridesmaid crew as a memento of your wedding... If this sounds like you, read on!
Your bridesmaids (for this part we'll exclude the littlest ones!) have been with you since the beginning. You're likely to have dragged them round the bridal boutiques, shared endless hours of DIY'ing homemade aspects of your wedding day together, they've helped you write hundreds of addresses on your invites and been the rock to go to when you have a bridal breakdown... these girls have been there through it all, and really do deserve to be thanked for it.

A bridesmaid gift isn't essential, but we're pretty sure it'll be highly appreciated. Giving a thank you gift to each of your bridal party is just one way of showing your gratitude and appreciation for everything they've done for you and the emotional support they've shown in the planning process - it can be quite the task you know!
The best gifts as with most gifts in life are the ones that you've put time, thought and energy into choosing or creating. It can be as simple as picking out the colours that you know they'll love most, finding a treat for them that you know they'd bounce with excitement over, purchasing personalised and bespoke items made just for them, or putting together a pamper hamper for them to enjoy - it doesn't have to be much, it just needs to be thoughtful.
Dependent on who your bridesmaids are, and importantly the ages of them, you may choose to give them all the same or to get something unique for each of them that they’ll appreciate. Let's be honest, a cute personalised cuddly toy may be perfect for the toddling flower girl but not so suitable for the maid of honour in her thirties!

The choices for gifts are endless so we suggest before you even start shopping you set yourself a budget from your wedding funds, take time to think about exactly what you'd like to give them (will it be jewellery, pamper boxes for the getting ready or a personalised keep sake?) and when this is decided you can start shopping with a vision in mind. You'll want to make sure you start shopping for these several months before the big day to save any last minute stresses and to allow plenty of time for items that you may want personalised or created bespoke.
When should you give your gifts? This question doesn't have a straight answer, it really will vary on the gifts chosen and the recipient receiving. The most popular timings include 'in the morning', during speeches, or on the eve of your wedding if you're staying with your bridal party or having dinner together. Some even choose to give 'will you be my bridesmaid' gifts when asking the big question, usually a gift that can be used during the planning or for getting ready with on the wedding day!
You'll need to think about your gifts and decide when is best... Do you want them to wear it on your wedding day? If so, maybe the night before or morning prep may be the right timing. If it's a sentimental gift then you may choose for it to be given to them during the speeches when all of the thanks are shared. Don't forget to also think about transporting of the gifts, if you have a long drive or even a flight to contend with, then a glass gift is unlikely to be the best gift!

Here's What Kim of Kimmy's Homemade Gifts and Nisha of UNA Prints had to say...
What do you think is the best gift a bride can give, and when?
Kim -I would personally say a sentimental gift from our range such as a personalised photo frame. Which can be filled with a wedding photo and be used around any home to enjoy the memories of your wedding day.
Nisha -For us personally it’s the robes. Every woman will be able to relate when we say that there will be a perfect picture of you and the girls and you feel your arm looks to large, or your top looks inappropriate and then comes the awkward line… “please don’t use that picture”. Robes are the perfect way to avoid this, and with our premium quality robes you will feel comfortable all morning.
The wedding morning is the most ideal time to have the gifts distributed…at least amongst the stress none of the bridesmaid can forget theirs at home!

Set the scene for us, why is it a nice thing to do..?
Kim -Bridesmaid packages can be used to firstly ask your bridal party to be a part of your wedding day. Containing gifts that be used straight away or to be saved for the wedding day.
Morning of the wedding package - which includes a hanger - glass - robe and slippers. As you will be able to hang your beautiful bridesmaid dresses up to ensure they don’t get creased. The robes and slippers are perfect for getting ready, nice and light so you can get ready feeling comfortable and easily removed once your hair and make up is complete so you don’t have to worry about ruining your hair and make up. And then finally to raise a glass before the ceremony.
Or they are the perfect way to thank your bridesmaid within your speeches.
Nisha - Your wedding day is such an important day and the morning of is when the nerves really kick in. To have your close friends and family amongst you lightening the mood and creating some last memories of you as a Miss really does take the edge away. It’s a nice way for your bridesmaid to look and feel the part too. Alongside you, your bridesmaids have worked hard to make sure you have the perfect day, so this is your way of appreciating their efforts and their friendship.
