Westonbirt House is a magnificent Grade 1 listed building set in 210 acres of parkland, formal gardens, terraced lawns and a lake in the Gloucestershire countryside.
The original Westonbirt House was built in 1665 and replaced over time with a Georgian House and then by the current House which was built by Robert Holford between 1863 and 1870.
Designed Lewis Vulliamy, this grand country house is a stunning example of Victorian architecture.
Westonbirt House is available for hire for weddings and all types of events including conferences, lectures, private dinners and parties.
Westonbirt House has been a wedding venue for many years and has hosted a vast number of successful weddings. When Westonbirt School is not in term time, the house is transformed into a stunning wedding venue.
The beautiful Victorian architecture and extensive gardens, including the Walled Italianate Garden and traditional parkland, provide the perfect setting for your special day. The house and gardens will be exclusively yours for the day, offering a fantastic backdrop for an unforgettable celebration.
Within the House there are a number of dining rooms and separate function suites which may be combined to create the perfect wedding day to suit your guest numbers and style. Different rooms can be set up to the specifications of the bride and groom offering flexibility and personal choice. For larger weddings you may wish to erect a marquee on our extensive level terrace, adjacent to the main house.
"Thank you so much for everything you did to make our wedding day super special. I know everyone says it but it truly was the best day of our lives. Thank you for taking on board and accommodating all of our weird and wonderful requests and organising everything so brilliantly. We absolutely loved the food and you have received many compliments from the guests on everything from canapes to main course, chocolates and beyond. We really enjoyed every bit of the process of planning and doing the day – we are so sad it’s over."
Abbie & Adam
"Thank you so much for making Abbi and Adam’s wedding day so very special. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating, ensuring that the day ran smoothly. As Abbi said as she left on the Saturday night, “that was the best day”. From the first time we visited Westonbirt we were smitten. Abbi had said she wanted to get married at Downton and this couldn’t have been more perfect. It was brilliant how you helped their ideas evolve over the course of several visits / planning meetings and the tasting session. You were incredible, sorting out all the fine details and putting everything in place (we never did find out what happened to the gel pens!). Nothing was too much trouble, though it’s now clear it’s best NOT to have tea lights alongside menus on the tables! We must pass on our special thanks to your chefs and the kitchen staff; we were all so impressed by the exceptionally high quality of the food and its presentation, particularly as there were 120 of us. We were so fortunate with the weather too; having the beautiful sunshine enabled guests to enjoy the spectacular grounds and I know Dan, the photographer, was excited at getting so many brilliant shots outside in what he described as “magical lighting”; and with it being cold we were able to appreciate the roaring log fires, such an impressive feature of the school. A beautiful venue, super staff and awesome food."
Mother of the Bride
"I just would like to say once again a huge thank you for helping us make Hattie and Matt’s wedding all they had dreamed of and more. Everyone we spoke to thought that the venue, food and day itself could not have been better. I cannot imagine how you or your wonderful team could improve on what you do, everyone was so kind and accommodating, ensuring that the day ran smoothly and felt so relaxed. Your chef and his team need to know that guests were very impressed by the extremely high quality of the food and its presentation."
