Daniel & Rachel, Lapstone Barn, Chipping Campden

We met Rachel and Dan for the very first time at their pre-wedding shoot, they were so friendly and easy to get along with. While chatting about the wedding day photos we knew this wedding would be great fun as Rachel wanted to embrace and enjoy it all which she did, regardless of being a little nervous about photos.

November the 9th 2019 was the day Rachel and Daniel said " I Do"

Lapstone Barn was the wedding venue for the ceremony and celebrations. Lapstone is a beautiful barn located in Chipping Campden, the barn is situated at the end of a long drive and is surrounded by beautiful countryside scenery.

So lets be honest the weather was horrendous! There is no better word to describe the weather, it was a gloomy, freezing fog, icy rain, cold wind and grey kinda day. We were worried about how the couple would react to the weather and how the day would go because of it. We worried for no reason at all because my goodness they totally embraced it!!

We arrived at Lapstone Barn to a room of bridesmaids with the bride all having a wonderful time while getting ready, the room was buzzing with excitement as hair and make up was beautifully styled. The morning flew by and before we knew it, it was time for the wedding ceremony.

The ceremony was lovely and included the giving and receiving of rings plus two readings from friends. They sealed the deal with a kiss, signed the register and were showered with confetti as they walked up the the aisle as husband and wife.

The newlyweds greeted their guests, enjoyed yummy canapes and a glass of fizz during the drinks reception. Meanwhile the rain was either horrid cold drizzle or heavy down pours plus the daylight was fading fast but the Bride and Groom just grabbed a brolly and headed outside for photos "only getting married once" was what Rachel said - the words every photographer likes to hear on a wet grey cold day! We all worked fast moving from location to location, groomsmen shielding the couple plus us too, the dress was scooped up and laid out for photos and we chatted throughout making sure everybody was happy to continue. It was the wettest yet fastest photo shoot with a couple ever!

The speeches took place before the yummy meal was served and then of course the cutting of the cake followed. Dan and Rachel took to the dance floor first for their first dance as husband and wife, then everybody...pretty much every guest got up on the dancefloor to party the night away.

We often get asked "what do you do if it rains?" and our answer is always we embrace it! When booking a wedding venue many couples just focus on the outdoor area for photos which is great but look at the possibilities for indoor portraits too even if your planning a summer wedding - we get rain every season! Plan for rain think brollies, welly's, blankets, shrugs and chat to your photographer about your photo time. You get married once and my biggest advice would be embrace it just like these guys did ♥
