Elizabeth & Alex at Milford Hall Hotel & Spa, Salisbury
Mark Bastick Photography offers couples a candid, informal documentary style of photography, enjoying capturing the fun and excitement of their wedding day.
Here's a beautiful, traditional summer wedding from him...
"Elizabeth and Alex first contacted me after I was recommended to them by another photographer who was already booked on their wedding date (to be recommended by fellow photographer was fantastic!). We decided to meet up for an informal chat about their wedding plans and so they could have a look through my portfolio. After looking at my work and talking about their big day they decided I was defiantly the right photographer for them.
As part of their wedding photography package they had an engagement shoot which we turned into a family photo shoot for them and their children - We decided to go to a park near their house and I photographed them as a family and then the children played with bubbles - which is always great fun!!
The wedding was all at the Milford Hall Hotel and Spa and so the day started with photos of Elizabeth and her bridesmaids getting ready in the morning. There was a lot of excitement and laughter as they got ready and I know Elizabeth really appreciated that intimate time with her sister, best friends and parents being photographed. At this point in the day I tend to just photograph things as they happen - by not interfering or being directive I allow Elizabeth and those present to just interact as they normally would and this helps to get the natural reactions and emotions.
Whilst the bride is getting ready, it's also when I take the opportunity to photograph all the smaller details - shoes, flowers, jewellery and perfume, the dress, champagne bottles and glasses, the reception room and anything else that may be important to the day. By the time it gets to the ceremony, I have usually already done a large part of my job, this then allows me to spend more time photographing the couple and their guests and all the fun as it happens throughout the rest of the day.
Elizabeth and Alex's ceremony was relaxed and was followed by a few family photos and then some of the main wedding party in the hotel's garden. After drinks and time for guests to catch up we were led to the wedding breakfast which was followed by some fantastic speeches (including by the bride!).
Alex and Elizabeth had a fabulous day and the event was capped off in the evening when more guests arrived and the dancing really got going - always a great opportunity for fun photos!!"
