Lorna & Rich at The Great Tythe Barn, Tetbury
The naked cake trend is as strong as ever, which is no surprise really when you see cake designers like Hannah Culley's Cakes producing showstoppers like this! Here's what Hannah had to say about one of her most recent wedding...
"I have known Lorna (and her sister too) since my school days, so I was thrilled for Lorna and Rich when they got engaged! They first enquired with me about making their wedding cake for them back in 2017 and in the meantime had a few Birthday cakes from me as well as their taster box of cupcakes. We also met up a few times to discuss designs & what they envisaged for their wedding cake along the way. I love their chosen venue, the Great Tythe Barn, so when Lorna told me where they were getting married, the colour scheme & all the other details I was swooning! They had chosen pale pink and blue as their colours keeping it pretty but simple - I couldn't wait to be apart of this wedding!
The couple together chose a three tier semi-naked cake with a combination of three gorgeous flavours! They went with a classic Victoria sponge, a tier of carrot and finally a luxury chocolate orange top tier for something a bit different! The cake was dressed with beautiful flowers from their florist & finished off with ribbon to match the colour of the bridesmaid dresses. To complete the cake we added a natural wood Mr & Mrs topper - I really do love the addition of a topper, it's such an effective way to decorate a cake and is a lovely keepsake for the couple to keep from their big day.
I delivered the cake mid-afternoon when the room was being turned around and the whole placed looked amazing! I also caught a glimpse of the bride and groom who looked totally gooorgeous! The cake took pride of place behind the top table and in front of a wall of bright fairy lights which really made the cake glow.
It really was an absolute pleasure creating a wedding cake for someone that I've known for so long, and it was so great to work with Lorna & Rich who are a really lovely couple. Their wedding was back in the middle of February which feels like forever ago already, but I've recently received some beautiful pictures from Christy Blanch Photography of the cake, which i'm sure you'll agree are incredible.
I also recently received a lovely thank you card from the newlyweds which was so kind and very gracefully received. It really is the best thing to receive in the post!"
