Real Wedding: Gemma & Gary at The Coleview Community Centre

On this day

From the day Gary and Gemma contacted me about making their Wedding cake I knew their 'Big Day' was going to be something very special indeed... I had never heard of Steampunk before and after a quick 'Google search' I could quickly gather an idea in my head of what it was they wanted! After lengthy discussions, many sketches and a cake consultation later the now Mr and Mrs Wilcox had booked me for their Wedding day!

After Gary gave me loads of pictures of what they were going to be wearing on the day I had this vision in my head which was quite extraordinary! They told me they wanted a 'keepsake tier' which of course I loved the idea of, they wanted to keep a part of my creation after their Wedding, so so lovely. For months I was toying with ideas and planning how I was going to create this epic design, Gary and Gemma had the topper to go on top of the cake and Gary had made the incredible cake stand for it to go on!

They went for a Chocolate Oreo tier and a Raspberry & White Chocolate tier with the polystyrene keepsake tier and the top hat that I also made with polystyrene. Whitewed's own Natalie was putting together the Coleview Community Centre for Gary and Gemma's reception and I had a call from her at the beginning of the week to confirm delivery, the months had flown by and the day was nearly here!

Hannah Culley's Cakes offers a stress-free process so I had made final communication with the Bride and Groom a week before about their delivery, wished them well and that was it...

The room looked fabulous with so many touches that were made by Gary and Gemma even the cake knife and slicer had been made to match the Wedding decor. I was so so so pleased with how this turned out and I say it all the time but really did love making this amazing, bespoke creation for Gary and Gemma's Wedding day. I loved the bronze colours and it matched perfectly and looked perfect on the cake stand.

I received the most incredible comments when I posted the cake on Social Media and the testimonial received brought a tear to my eye! I received a photo a few months later of the keepsake tier sitting proudly on their shelf at home along with a picture of my cake on their wall too.

It will always be one of proudest and most loved cakes because of the how lovely Gary and Gemma were to work with as well as the most incredible theme to design around. I'm still in touch with Gary and Gemma now & we still talk about their amazing Wedding day...
